Mississippi Valley State University is a historically black university located in Itta Bena, Mississippi. A school was founded inside 1950 as the Mississippi Vocational College. A college changed its title inside 1964 to Mississippi Valley State College and was granted university status within 1974. A university is usually known as MVSU or even only "The Valley."
MVSU's colors come kelly green and white and their nickname is the Delta Devils. MVSU sports teams participate inside NCAA Section We personally (I-AA for football) in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). Illustrious alumni include NFL wide receiver and first Hall of Famer Jerry Rice.
History
